Angry mob last Wednesday, nabbed two suspected cable thieves and tied them to a transformer fence at Anagada village, Gwagwalada Area Council. According to Daily Trust, a resident of the community identified as LLiyasu said the two suspects allegedly went to vandalize a newly installed transformer at the outskirts of the community but a security guard at the village primary school heard strange sounds from the direction of the transformer and raised alarm. "That attracted the attention of some youth who ran after them. One of them was apprehended and taken to the chief’s palace. But luck ran out on the second one who came back the next day to carry the cables inside the sack when he was also nabbed and tied to the transformer fence together with the first one," he said. The two suspects were later handed over to men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at Gwagwalada.

The Federal Government has ruled out any possibility of providing bailout funds to banks to boost their operations, following the gale of job losses in the banking sector in the last two weeks. A top government official told one of our correspondents on Saturday that it would be wrong for the government to bail out the banks with pubic funds because all the other sectors of the economy were faced with one challenge or the other.

In Ekiti, Governor Ayodele Fayose said he would not declare a public holiday in Ekiti State to celebrate June 12. His Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, simply said, “No” when asked by our correspondent if the governor would declare a public holiday. Adelusi did not give a reason for the decision. A member of the National Council of Child Rights Advocate Nigeria, NACCRAN, Dr. Funmilayo Ogunleye-Hancock, has expressed displeasure over the increasing number of rape cases in the country. The US-based Child Rights activist strongly blamed the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, for the ugly trend. Nigerian woman was killed after the Perodua Myvi car she was in with her sister was involved in an accident at Km269 of the North-South Expressway (southbound) this afternoon, Thursday, June 9th. In the accident which occured at 3.15pm,the 23-year-old victim, identified as Odongo Regina Ndamai, died at the scene due to serious injuries.
